ARMA WITH YOUR T3 SPRAY -THE MYCOTOXIN STORY
New EU legislation setting maximum mycotoxin
levels in grain for human consumption is due to come into effect from
1st July this year.
Growers will now have to closely monitor ear disease levels in order
to minimise risk of mycotoxins in grain, particularly the deoxynivalenol
(DON) mycotoxin, which has an EU maximum level of 1.25 mg/kg.
Factors which increase the risk of high DON levels:
- wet weather during flowering;
- maize in the rotation;
- minimum tillage which can aid inoculum carryover;
- lodging;
- variety, particularly open flowering varieties with poor resistance
to fusarium ear disease;
- location - southern areas of the UK are more at risk.
This means that the T3 spray will become an even more important component
part of the spray programme.
ARMA CAN HELP
THREE YEARS OF WORK at the University of Kiel in Northern
Germany (the leading centre into Fusarium/Mycotoxin research) shows that
by adding Arma to half rate Caramba or prothioconazole + spiroxamine can:
1. Improve levels of control (by up to 17%)

2. Reduce levels of mycotoxin in the grain

3. Improve yield (by up to 0.6 t/ha)

As usual the return on investment on the use of Arma
is extremely high!
